This series consists of photographs that were taken of general and field grade officers of the U.S. Air Force. While the vast majority of the photographs are of senior officers, there also are portraits of company grade officers and chief master sergeants, Secretaries of the Air Force, Secretaries of Defense, and U.S. Presidents. The Presidents pictured are Dwight Eisenhower, John Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, and Ronald Reagan. The Secretaries of Defense represented in this series are Harold Brown, Clark M. Clifford, Thomas S. Gates, Louis A. Johnson, Melvin R. Laird, Neil H. McElroy, Caspar W. Weinberger, and Donald Rumsfeld. The Secretaries of the Air Force whose portraits are in this series are Harold Brown, John L. McLucas, James W. Plummer, Thomas C. Reed, Robert C. Seamans, Jr., and John C. Stetson. In addition, there are portraits of astronauts, Congressional Medal of Honor recipients, Korean and Vietnam War aces, and other notable aviators.
